LexisNexis joins global business coalition to fight human trafficking

October 2012

Tuesday, 25 September marked the official launch of the Global Business Coalition Against Human Trafficking (gBCAT), a group of global corporations that recognises the role businesses can play in the effort to end human trafficking and all forms of modern day slavery. LexisNexis Legal & Professional is excited and honoured to be one of the founding members of this group - whose mission also supports our commitment to advancing the rule of law around the world.

We have joined forces with global companies like Coca-Cola, Delta, Manpower, Microsoft and others in this anti-human trafficking initiative. After working together for over a year, gBCAT formally announced its mission to mobilise the expertise, resources and voice of coalition members to help fight against human trafficking, which includes all forms of forced labour and sex trafficking, most notably child prostitution.

According to the International Labor Organization, there are nearly 21m slaves in the world today. Learn more about this initiative and how global companies can have an impact by reading the press release or this article on CNN’s Freedom Project blog.
