Reed Elsevier has been identified as one of the Top 25 Performers in the Caring for Climate initiative within the Caring for Climate Progress Report 2012. The Caring for Climate Top 25 Performers list is defined as those companies meeting all five commitments from the Statement while achieving the greatest absolute emissions reductions percentage over the 2009 to 2010 reporting period.
As a Top 25 Performer, Márcia Balisciano, Director for Corporate Responsibility at Reed Elsevier, has endorsed the voluntary joint statement on reporting that aims at elevating the role of transparency and disclosure on climate performance and progress.
Reed Elsevier’s commitment to the Caring for Climate joint statement was included and recognised as part of the compendium of Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum commitments.
Kevin Agnew, Global Environment and Helath and Safety Manager for Reed Elsevier, commented: “To be labelled as a Caring for Climate top 25 performer is recognition of Reed Elsevier’s success in reducing its environmental impact. It would be very easy to see this accolade from a highly respected organisation as a destination, but the message from Rio was clear. Business action on climate change is a vital driver for action from governments and the wider public. At Reed Elsevier we are still committed to ever higher standards of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, and are grateful for the efforts of colleagues around the world who make this possible.”
