Reed Exhibitions Japan has launched Wind Expo, Japan’s first event dedicated to wind power technology, to be held in Tokyo as part of its World Smart Energy Week in 2013.
World Smart Energy Week is one of the largest renewable energy events in the world. World Smart Energy Week 2012, held in February, filled Tokyo Big Sight with seven specialised exhibitions dedicated to the latest smart energy technologies and products ranging from photovoltaics, hydrogen and fuel cells and rechargeable batteries to smart grid systems and environmentally-friendly buildings.
The event attracted 1,453 exhibitors. Over 93,000 attendees were drawn to the event by a world class conference comprising 246 seminars, including keynotes from renowned Japanese and international energy experts and policy makers.
Japan recently proposed a new feed-in tariff scheme offering attractive returns for both solar and wind power projects. The programme, set to start in July 2012, is part of policy measures to diversify Japan's energy mix after the Fukushima nuclear disaster last year.
Wind Expo is the latest addition to Reed Exhibitions’ fast growing alternative energy portfolio, which also includes the World Future Energy Summit (Abu Dhabi), All Energy (Aberdeen and Melbourne) and the Asia Future Energy Forum (Singapore).
