Reed Business Information ("RBI") announced today that it has agreed to sell Reed Business Information Australia ("RBI Australia") to Catalyst Investment Managers Pty Ltd (“Catalyst”). Terms were not disclosed. A new company, owned by funds managed by Catalyst will acquire the company.
The decision to sell the business reflects RBI's increasing focus on paid content models and data services. RBI's construction information data business, Cordell, is to be retained. RBI Australia is the country’s largest business to business media company, with a diverse portfolio of publications, websites and online industry portals providing information to professionals in a wide range of industries. It publishes print titles, associated websites and e-newsletters including Australian Doctor, Money Management, Pharmacy News, Australian Mining, Manufacturers Monthly, Lawyers Weekly, Travel Weekly and B&T Magazine. It also owns and operates online directories including ferret.com.au, hotfrog.com.au, gohospitality.com and infolink.com.au.
The transaction is expected to complete in the next three weeks.
