Reed Elsevier NV announces a new member of its Supervisory Board
Reed Elsevier NV has today announced the appointment of Mrs Marike van Lier Lels as a member of the Supervisory Board of Reed Elsevier NV, subject to approval by Reed Elsevier NV’s shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting to be held on 13 January 2010.
Mrs Van Lier Lels is a member of the supervisory boards of Royal KPN N.V., USG People N.V. and TKH Group N.V. She is also a member of the Audit Committee of the Algemene Rekenkamer in the Netherlands and is a member of various Dutch governmental advisory boards.
From 2000 to 2005, Marike van Lier Lels was Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at Schiphol Group. Furthermore, she has held various senior positions, both in the Netherlands and in Singapore and Hong Kong, for Nedlloyd. Mrs Van Lier Lels has a good understanding of Dutch human resources, pension and corporate governance issues.

She brings extensive business and international experience, along with specific knowledge of employee related matters in the Netherlands.”
