ICIS & RELX have done extremely well at creating a psychologically safe environment for me to perform outside my comfort zone.
I joined the ICIS EMEA sales team in London at the end of 2013. My first couple of years were focused on managing existing customers’ relationships and defining strategies to grow them. This gave the opportunity to speak to hundreds of industry professionals across different functions in more than 10 countries.
The ICIS leadership team rapidly gave me an opportunity to step up into a management role. This translated into a unique opportunity to open our very first satellite office in Dubai, UAE. I spent just over two years building and growing our presence in seven countries in the Middle East.
I have always been curious to see how different parts of our company operated globally and how I could contribute in a hands-on approach. This is how I ended up moving to Shanghai, China in October 2019. I now lead and manage our team of 15 sales people here.
These international experiences made me realise how crucial ICIS is to our 6,000 plus customers globally.
The world’s resources are extremely precious and need to be used in ways that are transparent and profitable. Global trade of resources is more complex than ever today - technology advancement, environmental impact, regulations, competition and price volatility to name a few. ICIS’ mission is to connect markets and customers, so data has, therefore, never been more important.
Technology and innovation are such a crucial part of the future success of our customers. ICIS has managed to invest at the right time and the right place to deliver highly sophisticated digital solutions. These will enable our customers to make more strategic decisions, mitigate risk, improve productivity and capitalise on new opportunities.
