For the majority of the last decade, I have worked for RX in North America. Within that time, all of which being in the IT Department, I have held many different positions.
As a help desk analyst, my role revolved around providing all of the technological tools used by our employees each day. This included configuring computers, mobile devices, software and other productivity tools used by our sales, marketing, operations, finance and various other departments. I also provided guidance and on-site assistance to the show teams regarding how to incorporate new and exciting technology into live and digital events.
Upon becoming a security analyst, my focus shifted to conducting security assessments for vendors and third parties who provided products or services to be used internally or by attendees and exhibitors at events. These offerings that required assessment included show store technology, mobile applications, digital event platforms and much more.
In my current role as security operations center manager, it is my responsibility to ensure our core systems and infrastructure are configured properly and are operating securely. I have the opportunity to work with business units and teams around the world on a wide range of security initiatives, such as vulnerability management, incident management and security awareness.
RX has allowed me to learn and advance through on-the-job training, commitment to outside education such as certification and most importantly, internal development programmes.
I had the pleasure of participating in the International Talent Exchange Program in 2016 where I spent two weeks at the company HQ in Richmond, UK. During my visit, I was able to meet with executives, managers and fellow IT employees. Although the US IT team works very closely with our counterparts in the UK, getting to meet them face-to-face and have in-depth conversations allowed me to understand more about each person’s expertise.
The Talent Exchange Program has proven to have strengthened my relationships with my global team members and has made cooperative endeavors since my visit that much easier and more enjoyable. I attribute my success in my current global role to my experience in the Talent Exchange Program and now work directly with many of the people who I got to know better during my trip.
