It has been a privilege to work with my exceptional team and so many great people in the business to reduce sustainability risk, increase opportunities and better serve our customers. For our collective efforts we are recognised as a CR leader, placing in Sustainalytics top 1% of more than 15,000 global companies; holding a AAA MSCI sustainabiltiy rating for more than 10 consecutive years; with inclusion in the Dow Jones Best in Class Indices, S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook and the FT Climate Leaders. However, we are never complacent. We continually work to raise the bar on our sustainability performance.
I am proud to be the founding global head of corporate responsibility (CR) at RELX, engaging with colleagues across the business to increase the positive contribution we make to society through our work, while minimising any negative impact. We prioritise, for example, responsible artificial intelligence (AI) and continuously review the RELX Responsible AI Principles to set standards for the development and distribution of AI solutions for our customers.
We also work to limit our environmental impact. 100% of our energy comes from renewable sources or renewable energy certificates. Our carbon targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and we charge an internal carbon price to our business (scaling to $100 a ton by 2030) as an incentive for reductions. Among other uses of proceeds is an employee Green Fund to support environmental projects suggested by our colleagues.
Each year we set public CR objectives, including on our unique contributions as a business: protecting society, advancing science and health, furthering the rule of law and access to justice, fostering communities and universal sustainable access to information. CR is owned by everyone at RELX and there are over 4000 employees involved in our CR networks, focused on areas such as community, environment, inclusion, accessibility and editorial policy.
We created the free RELX SDG Resource Centre, which advances the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with data, news, events and more from our business, the UN and other partners. I have the pleasure of hosting the World We Want podcast on the site, hearing from experts across different fields about their efforts to advance a more sustainable world. Each year we host the virtual RELX SDG Inspiration Day to bring hundreds of investors, customers, employees, business representatives and civil society together to explore critical sustainability topics.
We have given over $1.2m through the RELX Environmental Challenge to support innovative solutions for improved water and sanitation where it is most needed with a strand focused on ocean health.
