Account Manager

I am very grateful to have always had the opportunity to grow and progress at Elsevier. Throughout the organisation there is an ingrained culture of trust, collaboration and respect, which is exemplified by the flexible working conditions that help to ensure a comfortable work-life balance.
Ten years ago I started working for Elsevier Health Solutions as a Marketing Coordinator at the Camden office in London. A few years later I joined the sales team as an Account Manager, promoting and providing our content to tertiary education institutes in South West England and Wales. Having left England in 2014 to pursue a life in Australia, I was fortunate enough to re-join the Australian business a few months later in an identical role with a new territory of New South Wales.
I now work in an expanded Account Manager role in the Clinical Solutions team, partnering with leading tertiary education institutes all over Australia, specialising in the delivery of Elsevier’s institutional digital platforms. My work endeavours to empower academic excellence in healthcare education, through the provision of equal-access to tailored teaching and learning solutions, with the objective of maximising student outcomes and ultimately patient care.
Given the vast geography of Australia, most of my customer interactions are through electronic channels. However, regular visits to key accounts is critical in maintaining currency of understanding, in the context of ensuring that our services continue to effectively meet the needs of our customers and help them to achieve their objectives.
Australia is in a unique position given the strong demand for local content specific to Australian standards, particularly in nursing. To Elsevier’s advantage, we have an equally strong local publishing programme that has been at the forefront of meeting this demand for decades. This means that Elsevier is not only known in Australia as a market-leading provider of health science content globally, but also at a very local level too. I consider myself fortunate to work for an organisation that is so well-established and trusted in the eyes of its customers.
With the growing prevalence of online education in Australia, the delivery of teaching and the way that content is consumed continues to evolve rapidly. Consequently, the importance of innovation and new technology in our industry has never been greater. It is an exciting time to be at Elsevier. We are well-positioned to continue to leverage our global platforms and infrastructure, as well as our local networks and expertise, to capitalise on new opportunities to make it easier for students to transform information into knowledge.
Having worked for Elsevier in both hemispheres and with talented colleagues throughout Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific, it is clear that there is a strong continuity in the values that underpin our mission.
I am very grateful to have always had the opportunity to grow and progress at Elsevier. Throughout the organisation there is an ingrained culture of trust, collaboration and respect, which is exemplified by the flexible working conditions that help to ensure a comfortable work-life balance.
Success is always well-recognised and this elicits an organic drive for excellence in meeting and exceeding performance expectations.
